What is the best vacation spot in Mexico?

I have a 9 year old son and an 18 month old daughter. We want to travel to Mexico for a family vacation. Somewhere SAFE, AFFORDABLE, and fun for the whole family. We are beach lovers so it has to be waterfront! Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Safe? Try a Hawaiian vacation.
Affordable? get on Yelp dot com and read reviews.

I think you would love Riviera Maya (you would fly into Cancun airport and it’s just south of Cancun). Very safe, white sand beaches and AWESOME service at most resorts. I would HIGHLY recommend an all-inclusive. As far as a family resort goes, Azul resorts have a kids club and I saw right now they are offering kids 5 and under stay free. (you might have to call a travel agent to get that rate… I recommend Fox World Travel (www.gofox.com).

Some of the Occidental Resorts in that area also have kids stay free deals and your 9 year old might qualify.

I’m sure there are a ton of other offers out there as well, so I’d definitely work with someone who can find all of those deals. I worked with Kim at Fox.

Yup, that would be the Mayan Riviera. One of the most safest areas in all of Mexico and safer than a lot of areas in the States. Tulum, Merida, Chichen Itza, Cancun, Playa Del Carmen it’s excellent family fun. There’s a lot of parks such as Xcaret and Xel-Ha that are ecological and a great trip. Tulum is the Mayan Ruins by the sea and the all famous post card spot. Water is beautiful there. Also in Playa del Carmen you’ll have tons of fun walking down 5th Avenue.
Cancun is excellent for shopping, a bit expensive though. and if You want to get to know southern penninsula Mexico, then go to one of the first cities founded in America: Merida. That city has everything you would want to have like in the US, but with a Spanish colonial touch. Really beautiful city with lots of culture and art. Also Puerto Progresso is 15 minutes away so you’ll have caribbean sea close ;D.

I would suggest you check out Dreams Puerto Aventuras. This ocean front resort is known to cater to families. Your nine year old can send his days in the kids club. It’s a supervised club for ages 3-12. The club really allows kids to have fun on their own. While the kids are playing, you can relax at the pool or on the beach while a server brings you a cool drink and a yummy snack. I hope you enjoy your vacation!
